The teaching of occupational therapy at the University of Alberta began in 1960, with the first occupational therapy graduate students admitted in 1986.   Today, the Department of Occupational Therapy is ranked as one of the top occupational therapy schools in Canada.  Newly-allocated funding has resulted in increased enrolment making the MSc in OT (course-based route) program the largest in Canada.

As part of the Faculty of Rehabilitation Medicine the Department of Occupational Therapy participates fully in interdisciplinary MSc and PhD degrees in Rehabilitative Science.

In 2011, in celebration of the 50th anniversary, the Department of Occupational Therapy developed 5 videos. Click here to view the videos.
